Our father Bob was an avid duck and goose hunter (as well as whitetail and mule deer, turkey, bear, elk hunter and fisherman) and who was a life-long conservationist with an eye and love of the outdoors, which he passed these traditions on to his 4 sons and grandchildren. It also comes with fully restored wooden oars, carpet pad for the bottom, classic vintage anchor, and battery operated bow and stern lights. It is in excellent condition (hardwood oak seats) and ready for the water! The boat comes with a trailer and 1949-1952 (Serial #350385 so it is that year range based on our research) vintage Mercury KF5 Super5 5HP outboard motor. This original vintage 1937 Thompson Bro's wooden cedar strip row boat was fully restored by our late father Robert (Bob) Kraemer in May 1986. Price includes one pair of original Peterborough spoon blade oars with new leathers and oarlocks. While not pristine, this is still a valuable boat. There are a few bangs, bruises, dark spots, and the seats have a few scratches from my dogs. The rear seat backrest was made from Peterborough Speedster backrests. A new and proper (concave back) half oval brass stemband and bow eye have been installed. The exterior has been freshened with 6 coats of Epifanes clear gloss varnish. In the past year, the keel and skeg were removed and re-bedded. While I have thoroughly enjoyed rowing it in Swell Bay of Rainy Lake, it is now time to let it go for a new owner to appreciate. I put a lot of time, effort, and expense into making the missing parts (white oak), procuring hardware, and putting the boat back together. The hull was safe, but some of the parts were destroyed. The previous owner was in the midst of restoring it, when a fire swept through his shop. Peterborough built very few boats using this construction technique. I have reasonable prices to ship the boat as far as Chicago from transportation companies.” The quotes I got ranged from $1800.-$3500. I will pay to have the tires replaced and bearings lubed and greased so it is more than road worthy. 1987 Sonny double axel trailer, it needs new tires and cleaned up but otherwise, it is in good condition with light surface rust. The fiberglass and vinyl are in reasonable shape but need good cleaning. The sides need to be sanded and varnished. It needs new rope caulking, a few clips, and bottom paint, but if I was going to keep it, I would have a 5200 bottom. The bottom is original and has been scrapped. Structurally, the boat is in excellent condition. The boat was covered well and completely buttoned up until a few weeks ago. There was no water in the engine and no standing water in the engine compartment. The interior is in okay condition, no cracks, or tears but it needs good cleaning. It ran beautifully last time I took it out on the lake. The wiring is in good condition.-it had a new Interceptor engine 250 hp when I purchased it and I put less than 7 hours on it. The gauges are all original and worked when it was stored. The fixture for the rear view mirror is intact but it is missing the mirror glass. All the hardware and parts are original, working, and still on the boat. No visible dry rot and the stringers are in good condition, and may need some clips. I am unable to drive because of medication I take, so towing the boat back to Kentucky is not practical or safe. I moved to Kentucky last year and fractured my lower back, so I have to use a walker to get around, until I have back surgery in May. My friend is now expanding her business and needs the room, so I have to find a home for the Gull. About 6 years ago, Leland, the mechanic, told me he was selling his business and the boat needed to be moved.

In 2012 I moved from the SF Bay Area to Las Vegas for work. The bottom took on water and I considered the fiberglass bottom but was told it would impact the value and was on the fence, so it sat inside at my boat mechanic's shop for the next three years. So as much as I like it the boat stressed me out. I was terrified I was going to scratch the wood. It was heavier than I expected and difficult to maneuver in and out of boat slips because of the airplane throttle. It is a great boat and won several awards at the Lake Tahoe wooden boat show. I was mesmerized by how beautiful the boat was but did not have any real understanding of the things wood boats need as far as maintenance. I knew it was a rare boat and not many were made and there we only a few left. I bought this 1967 Century Sabre Gull Wing in 2008.
